this video may become a series of videos depending upon the audience. proper vehicle maintenance is a must for any serious survivalist. i am a very credible source when it comes to maintaining a vehicle. I have 4 years experience in the automotive industry. I now manage the training division of 6 lube centers in the Permian basin. i will dispell many myths about synthetic oil, engine treatments and explain a little about how motor oil protects your engine.
At a discount store called Dollar General I was surprised that they have their own make of motor oil. The cost is half of a major brand such as Pennzoil which they also sold. I was half a quart low and decided that I just need oil and the make shouldn’t matter and I picked Dollar General brand. Is it worth paying double for Pennzoil brand or doesn’t the brand of oil not matter and I was smart to go with the cheapest one?

In the Amsoil lab they show how the Falex test machine, more commonly known as the “One Arm Bandit,” can show false test results and mislead people. I’ve seen this more commonly used at shows with oil additives, showing how various oils seize the machine up, but adding their miracle product shows how much more protection it supposedly adds. Some of the products tested here are Mobil 1, Amsoil, Pennzoil, Prolong, and finally how Head and Shoulder shampoo outperforms them all!

I bought 2Qt of Pennzoil 10W – 40 Motor Oil, I have heard that there is not really a big difference between motorcycle oil and car oil. It is not "energy conserving" so that will prevent a "wet clutch". Do you think it is okay do put it in my bike? Would you do it? Do you use car oil for your bike?
bought a truck off a pal of mine and got totally screwed. had a lifter tapping noise after a week so I went ahead and put in new cam/lifters/timing chain and gears. while i was there figured i might as well put in plugs/wires/cap/rotor/and new intake and valve cover gaskets. the old cam did have 2 dead lobes so it made a big difference. after a day or two i still had no oil pressure at idle whether the engine was cold or warm. I’ve had this problem before and so I put in new rod bearings and a new oil pump. new filter and all new oil of course. now after all of that work plus a new water pump, radiator, full exhaust, brakes and tires I’m too far invested into this truck to turn back now. problem is i still have no oil pressure at idle and only about 25 psi at low rev……
any theories on what could be causing this? I’m thinking maybe main bearings but really dread pulling the pan again and dealing with a 2 hour oil shower. btw running 10W/30 pennzoil oil and a WIX filter if that helps. this is a GM Goodwrench crate truck 350 motor with only 40,000 miles on it from what I’m told. and it’s got a 4 barrel comp carb on it.
if you read what i wrote i did replace the oil pump already. did no prime it tho so that might be an issue.
i also work at a machine shop so that isn’t gonna be a problem. the rod bearings were worn but not spun or worn out. i’ve seen that before. the knock is low so it’s not a cam bearing obviously. i’m gonna go ahead and guess main bearings or the fact i forgot to prime the new pump.
I recently refill the transmission oil in my 1999 corolla by removing pan and also replaced the filter ,i used Wolfs Head Universal Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid on my friend’s advise ,before that i always used pennzoil ATF with excellent results .this time my corolla didn’t responded well to wolfs head ATF ,i am planning to refill transmission oil with Redline D4 Synthetic ATF or Amsoil ATF
i know without transmission flush out i will not be able to replace old wolfs head ATF in transmission .instead of flush out i want to use fill/refill technique ,my question is after first initial fill
(3.3 Quarts for corolla) after how many miles i should refill again and how many times i have to refill the ATF for complete ATF change ,thanks
