Probably the last run of the year for the 540 elan, losing our snow with the rain and heat but with any luck we’ll get out again. Next year I’ll be ready to go at the start of the season – and we’ll be heading to Gaspesie for some deeeeeeep powder to try it out.

I need some help with my new bike, this is it:http://www.scooterdepot.us/250cc-street-legal-motor-bikes-sport-motorcycles-p-744.html

I am having a lot of trouble starting it, the gas I have is regular 87, the oil is synthetic mobile one sae 10-40w, and no I did not over or under fill it.

Basically when the new oil was in and the gas and battery fully charged it would not start for an hour, the lights would turn on and the starter would turn perfectly, if I tried to let the clutch out it would move but when fully out it would stall. After that hour it would only start when I constantly held the throttle, this would last for about 10 minutes, I would ride around for 2 minutes but if I ever let go of the throttle the engine would completely shut off, and after that 2 minute ride, it would be impossible to turn on, the starter would turn but the engine just wouldnt’t roll over. After that every time I tried I pressed the starter the starter motor rotating time would be shorter and shorter until pressing the starter just turned everything off, all the lights until I let go of the throttle and the lights would come back on. Now here is the wierd part, if I just leave the bike there with the battery in it all turned off, I come back in an hour the engine would roll only with constant throttle again, but then ride for little time and then starter stops again?

Now I have tried push starting it and you can here the engine come on but then it just shuts down, and rolling downhill too. Now I have done all of this in reserve full, choke on and off and it didn’t make a difference, any help would be appreciated!
the battery is not the problem, I had the voltage checked by aaa and everything was good
yea but the bike does not over rev, in fact when I did have it going, I held throttle at 2000 rpm, when I let go the rpm’s would drop and the engine would just turn off, nothing smells bad and everything is clean,

Here is a detailed build breakdown of my 540 elan from start to almost finish.

During his ‘Red Bull Chris Pfeiffer Caucasus Tour’ stuntriding world champion Chris Pfeiffer performed three breath-taking shows in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia on his BMW F 800 R. Watch out for the first video that was shot around the city of Baku in Azerbaijan and in the oil fields around the city, where some scenes of the James Bond movie ‘The world is not enough’ were shot.

A couple laughs with Dave his new project engine. Stay tuned to see the finished mystery project. Dave explains and shows how a centrifugal clutch works in the vid.

Wet clutches, however, tend to lose some energy to the liquid. Since the surfaces of a wet clutch can be slippery(as with a motorcycle clutch bathed in engine oil), stacking multiple clutch disks can compensate for the lower coefficient of friction and so eliminate slippage under power when fully engaged.

OK my car was at our local mechanic getting a new clutch, and my check engine light was on as well. I told him to fix it. I just checked my voicemail right now, and turns out my engine oil was dirty/low. So he gave me an oil change free of charge, but used regular oil.

I prepaid for my clutch, so my car is ready to pick up later. How dangerous is it to drive it if the oil is being switched from synthetic to regular? Should I take it tomorrow to get it switched back to synthetic?

Just got a 1989 Kawasaki kx 250 and am having a few problems with it. 1rst off no matter what gear I am in, when I hit the power band it stutters like crazy. The powerband won’t kick in. 2nd I noticed that the bike would want to die when I put the bike into gear even when my hand was on the clutch. I then noticed that the clutch isn’t fully engaging and the bike trys to pull forward. So I’d like to know why it is doing that. And 3rd, I am wondering if this is a problem or not. But I am running 92 octane at 32:1 with golden spectro synthetic/petroleum blend and there is a ton of oil spewing out of the exaust pipe. My back tire is covered in oil and I was wondering if that is normal or not. This is my first 2 stroke bike and I need help with these problems. Thanks

just got a 2000 yz 250. was wondering if the bmw 10w 40 motorcycle oil is safe to use. its the same viscosity as the oil the guy i bought it from said he used. just a different brand. he used amsoil. this kind is also synthetic. so just wanted to see if this would be safe just to use up till i buy some amsoil without frying the clutch or gears or wut not. thanks for the answers

Can I order any bearings for my rear wheel or are they a specific size.. how do i find out?

When soaking a new motorcycle clutch in oil, does that mean engine oil? ive never heard of clutch oil.

I bought 2Qt of Pennzoil 10W – 40 Motor Oil, I have heard that there is not really a big difference between motorcycle oil and car oil. It is not "energy conserving" so that will prevent a "wet clutch". Do you think it is okay do put it in my bike? Would you do it? Do you use car oil for your bike?

Recently, i was heading back home from a trip and i began to hear a loud vibrating sound, as well as feel it, when my truck down shifted from overdrive to fourth as i lost speed when climbing a hill. I really began to feel it when RPM reached above 3k. I pulled into the next town and as i slowed down below 50 mph i felt the vibrating and began to hear some knocking coming from the front of the engine.

I pulled to a stop and opened the hood to see oil splattered all around and a loud knocking sound from the the pulley the clutch fan is attached to. It was also shaking as though out of balance. I checked all fluids and they seemed to be at correct operating levels when hot. I could not find a spot where any oil is leaking from. There was no check engine light, transmission light, or any other warning lights that came on.

I have always been good about changing the fluids in my truck and have used full synthetic oil since i purchased the truck at 32k miles. It is currently at 115k miles. Have changed the serpentine belt when cracks began to show, spark plugs and wire, fuel injector once, water pump, radiator, one leaking hose to power steering box, and any other minor things cannot recall. The motor is a 5.9 v8 4×4. I am currently stuck in a town with the family and headed to a mechanic to get fixed. I am hoping i can get a quick suggestion to what the problem may be. I am thinking it has to do with the clutch fan, or the pumps with pulleys along the serpentine belt since no warning lights came on.

havent road my 2006 YZ125 this year. i put it back together after a pretty bad crash (front end mostly) a couple months ago i put a gallon of gas/oil mix just to fire it up and run for a few minutes to check for coolant leaks. ran fine no problems that i can see. yesterday i went to fire it up for a friend to hear and i noticed a strange feel when i went to kick it over it was like the clutch was catching or something a very slight grinding feeling felt through the kickstart lever and i could hear something that sounded like sand on metal contact kind of grinding sound and the kick didnt act right. i changed the trans oil before i fired it the last time. i use torco oil 80w 600cm and a little bit extra. my fuel is premium pump with torco synthetic (purple) oil mixed about 38:1 maybe a touch heavier. normaly when i run the bike and park it it will leak a little bit of black oil out that vent tube, lots of dripping from here, whats this about? is it just build up?

goes into nuetral fine and doesnt try to roll when i rev the motor. is there any way for water coolant to get in that port on the front of the cylinder where that vent tube comes from? and what is that box or port all about? can coolant get in the trans oil from internal seal problems? the black exuast oil that drips from that tube looked grayish like it had water in it, then after a few minutes it was black again. never seen it leak that much before, maybe i got water up there accidently when hosing the bike off? would that loosen up all that crud and cause it to leak that much exuast oil? also the silencer had it dripping out from the end too.

My hubby has a Honda Shadow 1100, he has ran it out gas several times and now recent oil. Motorcycle has about 25,000 miles on it. This last time he was riding home and the motorcycle just stopped, he put in one quart of motor oil and wouldn’t start. Got another quart of oil, the bike started but was trying to stall out. It quit again 2 miles from where he originally broke down. Added 1 more quart of oil again, was able to get it started and went another 7 miles and bike quit again. Let the bike sit there for about 10 minutes and then it started again. But this time we took to a friend’s house about a mile away and now the clutch is sticking when trying to go into neutral. We were thinking of doing an oil change and use synthetic oil would help with the clutch issue and hopefully resolve the stalling out issues. What do you think?
