I recently heard some discussion about changing from one to the other & heard it wasn’t reccomended due to the build up of deposits. Has anyone else heard this & is this true or not?

Why is giving GM government money to develop the Volt Socialism BUT giving Exxon/Mobile money for shale oil capitalism? Should we be giving either of these companies skrilla for R&D?
I am out of the country. But what I am being told, no loss of power, no smell to exhaust, no loss of antifreeze, oil black like normal, smoking so bad going down road cannot see behind. parked and off black liquid draining out of muffler. No smell to liquid. I do have an AMSOIL bypass double oil filter on it. I also have the Banks six gun tuner with dial. Mostly kept in tow mode. K&N air filter, AMSOIL synthetic oil since about 45,000 miles and currently has 115,000 miles. Banks Exhaust break that is always on. Has 6- Speed manual transmission.
I have a 1984 Chry town & country, Labaron 2.6, the milage is 140,900 I usually change my oil every 1,000-1,400 miles. Since its almost 17 years old what weight would help keep it alive at this age? This car is well taken care of and almost every part has been replaced except for the engine and tranny..Thank you
I have a 1994 saturn. When I’m driving it; it runs great, but when I come to a stop the motor shakes. I was told the 3rd cylender is not firing. If I stop at the bottom of a hill my car goes very slow up the hill (35 mph) & if I give it a lot of gas it kind of jerks into 4th gear before I can get it to go normal speed up the hill. The oil smells like gas, & I have noticed it uses more gas then it should. I somtimes have a problem with having to give it gas to start it, but since replacing the spark plugs, wires, & air filter it has been doing a lot better. (Don’t tell me to buy a new car or a new motor.) I want to know what the problem is. Thank you.
I tried to take it to autozone, the model car is too old & I don’t have a check engine light on? :/ Thank you though.

Is grey oil normal? I bought it from a person and not sure when is the last time it was changed. Maybe coolant is leaking into the motor? All answers appreciated

Boyfriend changed oil in my car. Forgot to put oil back in engine. I drove car for 2/10 of a mile when oil light came on. I pulled off road and turned motor off. Engine was on for about 3 to 5 minutes. Boyfriend came & put 4 qts. oil in car. Motor sounds fine. Do you think there may be some damage that may show up in the future?

Issue 1: Gas tank (plastic) is leaking at the top, strong odor when full. Does not leak when on flat ground, but steep hills and jerky driving cause it to leak until about 3/4 full.
Issue 2: Common with older engines, the bottom half is moist with oil (not yet dripping), not coming head gasket or oil pan. What can it be and how do I help it?
Issue 3: Just yesterday I noticed my amp amplifying engine and turn signal static. I think my deck is a pioneer DEH-1900MP and I am using the RCA cables on the back to signal the sub. When unpluged from the back of the deck all the noise is gone. I assume it is a ground issue in the stereo?
I change my oil and filter regularly with full synthetic.None of my fluids leak (but gas) and it does not burn oil.
Feel free to share any helpful mazda hints.
I use to have a 1993 with over 500 000km on it, all original. I put a hard 50 000km on it before it let me down. I sold it, but it only cost 0 to get it back on the road. YAY Mazda!

I switched ’99 Intrepid to synthetic because I heard they have major problems with sludge in the 99 Intrepid with a 2.7L motor. Synthetic oil fights the formation of sludge far bette than conventional does, also I use it becuase the 2.7L motors run at higher avg. temp than most cars get ….so synthetic combats high temps. That and the motor will just last longer using synthetic.
Valvoline Synpower – 28.99 for 5L
or Mobil 1 if its on sale & I cant get Valvoline.
1999 Dodge Intrepid – 90,000km.
Id consider using Amsoil but its too much money. If you look at the analysis between mobil 1 and valvoline *synthetic* oil they are pretty much equal and for the money Valvoline is much cheaper …..plus I use there conventional oil so I stick with them.
As well I should mention along with amsoil being far more expensive…along with Redline & Royal Purple which are also supposed to be good….they are harder to get or have stocked at major stores. Actually Canadian Tire for those in Canada has for a good year or 2 been carrying amsoil i believe.
I am thinking of switching to Motorcraft full synthetic oil.
We have an 2010 Towncar that is driven about 9K a year
We also have a 07 MKZ that is driven (mostly highway) about 12-14K per year.
I live in the desert southwest where the temperature is often 100 degrees. I’ve been told & believe that ambient temperature doesn’t matter as much because the operating temperature of the engine is near 190 degrees anyway.
The service adviser told me to wait until the towncar tells me it needs an oil change. I think that’s too long. I’m thinking more along the lines of 5 months or 5K for that car.
The MKZ the service adviser said every 6 months 6K. I’m also thinking about 5 months 5K.
When I break down the cost it’s only a little more to change it more often & still cheaper then semi synthetic that "claims" 3 months 3K.
To me it’s cheap insurance to do it that way as they say "it’s the life blood of your engine"
