Does 10w30 synthetic oil flow better than 10w30 conventional? What about 5w30 conventional?
My question is, would a 10w30 synthetic flow better than 5w30 or 10w30 conventional? Would it flow better hot AND cold or just hot? Since 5w-30 tends to be better for cold starts.
This is comparison between synthetic and conventional. Let me know and possible sources if you have them. Thanks!
Lets focus more on the flow capability between 5w30 conventional oil and 10w30 synthetic. Which would FLOW better cold? Meaning temps around 25-35* F.

In the past I have taken several types of oil and put them in separate containers, put them outside on a very cold day. Then tried to pour. Synthetics would consistently pour faster than the regular motor oils with the same viscosity numbers. I hope this answers your question.
I have also tried this with gear lubes, two stroke oils and transmission fluids.
By the way, I live in central Ontario, Canada so it was tested in at least -30C temps.
Synthetic is always the better. Is it worthy paying? Its your choice.
Synthetics always have more viscosity and are specifically designed not to break down under duress(extreme heat and pressure) , thus flow better under the similar conditions.
i’ve mercedes c240 v6. 2002 USA made, (runtime reading – 74500 miles) engine manual recommends to change motor oil every after 10000 miles run (by using 10w-40) i’m just confused what brand to choose. PLS advice to get a correct decision.. thanks a lot
